Environmental parameters and use of chemicals during acclimatization

Humidity:

While controling humidity it should be avoided that the substrate becomes too wet. Therefore the use of a device that produces fog is recommended (see infrastructure).

Temperature:

Extreme temperature should be avoided. Bottom heat can favor rooting.

CO2:

A high concentration (900 ppm) improves the weaning process in some cases

Light:

Too high a light intensity immediately after transfer to greenhouse conditions is detrimental. Sometimes assimilation lighting is required in winter time.

Photoperiod:

Chose the right photoperiod to avoid flowering and eventually tuberization (e.g. Begonia)

Fertilizers:

As for cuttings and seedlings fertilizers are not required during the initial period.

Pesticides:

The use of pesticides during acclimatization should be minimized. Some fungicides can cause serious anomalies (e.g. Anthurium and Ficus) due to interactions with plant growth regulators
