Ethylene

Ethylene is a gaseous and thus extremely volatile hormone. The shape, size and method of closure of culture vessels is therefore important if the effect of this hormone is to be minimized. Its biosynthesis can be regulated by inhibitors such as aminoethoxyvinyl glycine (AVG) and amino oxyacetic acid (AOA) which interferes with ethylene production.
