The main writer of this blog is Dr. Chow Yong Neng (周永能博士) who also uses the moniker of “Plantcloner” in a column he had written for the business weekly, Focus Malaysia. He has also contributed articles to the Selangor Journal and has written for the newsletter of Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. CHOW has over 2 decades of service in the education and training field. His last position in Malaysia was as the CEO & Principal of Penang Han Chiang University College of Communication (then known as Han Chiang College), where he worked frantically for two years to register this institution which is funded by the Chinese Malaysian community as a university college as approved by the authorities.
Dr. Chow serves as the Principal Consultant for MyGreenCircle, a business entity which owns and manages brands such as slc4u.org, mygreencircle.com to provide consultancy services on education management, academic advising, agro-technology and business research and writing services to clients.
Trained as a plant tissue culturist at The Queen’s University of Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK, and served as a postdoctoral researcher at the National University of Singapore, Dr. Chow has significant experience as a commercial plant scientist. He has taught classes in introductory plant tissue culture to students of Beijing Normal University (Zhuhai Campus) and has put up an e-learning course on Moodle (username: guest88 ; password: guest88) for his students which is freely accessible to anyone interested to learn about plant tissue culture. In March 2019, Dr. Chow was engaged as an Associate Professor by the School of Life Sciences, Zhaoqing University (肇庆学院) in Guangdong Province, China. He taught on campus of this public university for one year but was prevented from returning to China in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The leadership of Zhaoqing University then granted him the privilege of continuing his teaching & thesis supervision duties for the remainder of his stint online (over a duration of five semesters or 2.5 years).
