Influence of species and stage of development
on the headspace composition

Under comparable conditions, the headspace composition is species and cultivar specific. Also the stage of development (multiplication or rooting) results in another headspace evolution and composition. Both factors are illustrated in the figures below in which the evolution of CO2 and ethylene is followed.
