Types


There are two types of variegation:

Cell lineage variegation cells of a single color descent from one mutated cell. When this is a cell of the shoot apex, the variegated plant is a chimera (not transmitted sexually)

Schefflera actinophylla

Non cell lineage variegation all cells have the same genotype but the pigment genes are differentially expressed (transmitted sexually)
