Robotization

It is estimated that 70% of the cost price of TC plants is labor costs. Therefore many micropropagation labs are now installed in low wage
countries. An alternative is to make use of robots. Specific problems related with robotization in plant tissue culture are:

• plant tissues are fragile

• no exact identical tissues are present

• aseptical manipulation is necessary

In the following figures the system configuration of a fully-automated robotic multiplication system for chrysanthemum is presented. In this system the robot hand dealt with both cutting and transplanting operations.
