| Cell differentiation and specialisation occurring in
the intact
plant is reversed and the explant tissue becomes dedifferentiated During dedifferentiation storage products disappear and new meristems arise producing undifferentiated parenchymatous cells without any of the structural order. Lack of organisation persists as the callus proliferates, although as growth proceeds some kinds of specialized cells may be again formed at random. Callus appears to have no organizational pattern, localized centers of meristematic activity are often present, and rudimentary cambial region may appear with areas showing vascular differentiation. |
